The first Virtual Webmaster Unconference successfully took place on August 26th and, as promised, we'd like to share the main findings and conclusions here. As communicated before, this event was a pilot, in which we wanted to test a if there was an appetite for a very different type of event, and b whether the community would actively engage in the discussions. To the first question, we were overwhelmed with the interest to participate; it definitely exceeded our expectations and it gives us fuel to try out future iterations.
What did we learn in the sessions?
Best Ukrainian Hosting – Tuthost
Dmitry, from Fozzy, has sent in their very first exclusive offer for the LowEndBox community. As a freebie, they are including Free CDN upon request. Note however that each deployed VPS can only have 50Mbps uplink. We are told that among their customers, you can find the largest Forex brokers, payment systems, and well-known Internet portals. Since this is the first time we are featuring them, kindly share your thoughts on the comments section below.
How did the event go?
Subscribe in a reader. Packet is awesome. With NTP servers and hundreds of millions of clients using the system, it really should be a given! Evaluating our options on a ridiculously short timeframe, Packet stood out as an interesting choice, though we were a little apprehensive at first if their setup would be too unusual compared to more familiar options. After a quick chat with some of the friendly staff at Packet, we were off to the races to see if we could get everything migrated in less than a week of nights and weekends.
The VPS service in Ukraine can be tested for free. To do this, order the desired plan and inform the financial department of the order number. Attach a scanned copy of your passport to the letter. After verification, you will receive test access for 5 days. One user can get test access only once. Support is ready to help with the initial setup of the OS and the VMmanager control panel. All control nodes of VDS servers are duplicated. In fact, we spend 2 times more resources on servicing a VPS, but at the same time the price of services remains affordable.
